Biography

Jonathan Steinsapir's practice encompasses a wide range of commercial litigation matters, with particular emphasis on intellectual property and entertainment disputes.  Mr. Steinsapir has litigated all phases of major patent, copyright and trademark cases throughout the country.  He has also worked on several appellate matters, including matters in the United States Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Ninth and Federal Circuits.  Relatedly, Mr. Steinsapir previously jointly authored (with former colleagues at Irell & Manella) a monthly column in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on significant splits on business law issues among the U.S. Courts of Appeals.

Mr. Steinsapir graduated from UCLA School of Law in 2002 and was elected to the Order of the Coif.  Following law school, he served as a law clerk to the Hon. Cynthia Holcomb Hall of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He then went on to clerk for Judge Margaret M. Morrow of the Central District of California.  Mr. Steinsapir also worked in the Pentagon for the Office of the General Counsel to the Secretary of Defense in the months surrounding the terrorist attacks of September 11.  During his time at the Pentagon, he traveled to Uzbekistan in October 2001 as the only on-site legal advisor during the negotiation and signing of a binding executive agreement regarding the cleanup of former Soviet biological weapons sites.

Mr. Steinsapir is a native of Santa Monica and a graduate of Santa Monica High School.  He graduated with honors from UCSD, majoring in Political Science with minors in Economics and Middle Eastern Studies.
