Los Angeles, CA – June 17, 2009 – Top boutique litigation law firm, Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump & Aldisert LLP (KWIKA) is pleased to announce that KWIKA Associate David Swift has been inducted as President of Los Angeles County Bar Association Barristers. He was also awarded the Barristers’ President Award for Outstanding Service to Barristers over the past year. The announcement was made this past Wednesday during a special installation ceremony held at the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Barristers is an Association of attorneys who are either 36 years of age or less, or who have been in practice 10 years or less.

"I'm truly excited for the upcoming year for the Barristers Association," said David Swift.  "As the organization representing over 7,000 young attorneys in Los Angeles, Barristers has the capacity and the obligation to help shape the future of the legal profession.  By focusing our programming on issues that matter to the profession and the community, we can continue to make Barristers more relevant, more useful, more meaningful and I look forward to helping make these goals a reality."

Swift has served a year as Barristers' President-elect and is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees for the Los Angeles County Bar Association.  During his acceptance speech, Swift shared his objectives to breathe new life into the organization by providing programming that both enriches the local community of young lawyers and addresses the issues facing the legal profession.  In particular, he aims to address issues including:  access to legal services, overburdened courts, retention and promotion of women and minorities and the overwhelming amount of layoffs.

"David Swift is a remarkable lawyer and tireless volunteer. David was responsible for the very successful Law Day which provided assistance to individuals in need of foreclosure information. As incoming President of the Barristers he will bring his extraordinary leadership, compassion and knowledge to the Los Angeles County Bar Association as well as the full complement of young practitioners who comprise the Barristers," said current (2008 – 2009) President of LA County Bar Association Danette Meyers.  "I congratulate his accomplishments and look forward to working with him in 2009 -2010."

In the last quarter prior to taking the reins, Swift has overseen three of Barristers' most successful and prestigious events, The L.A. Legal Market: How to Find a Job in the Midst of an Economic Downturn; a triple location Foreclosure Relief Clinic counseling over 300 families and with over 250 volunteer attorneys; and the upcoming Government Law Day, a prestigious panel featuring the U.S. Attorney, the District Attorney, the Federal and County Public Defender, and the Attorney General’s Office.

"David is an outstanding and hard-working young lawyer, both inside KWIKA and outside the firm as well, and we are proud of his extraordinary commitment to public service to the legal and local communities," said Larry Iser, Managing Partner of Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump & Aldisert LLP.  "With his impressive track record, energy and determination, we're confident David will make an invaluable contribution as he spearheads useful programming for the Barristers organization over the course of his term and beyond."

The event, which boasted more than 250 attendees, was officiated by Judge Margaret M. Morrow and was part of a larger program hosted by The Los Angeles County Bar Association.  The agenda included awards presentations in recognition of the Association Leadership and presented the 2009 Shattuck-Price Outstanding Lawyer Award to Justice Laurie D. Zelon. Swift also announced a hand-selected Barristers Executive Committee at the event.
